Day 01: Arrival and Reception:- At Bagdogra airport to Gangtok Via Sevok-Tista Bazaar - 125kms in 4hrs
We drive to Gangtok along the NH 31A. The landscape changes dramatically as we leave Siliguri and run through the dense forests Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary, the natural play ground of wild elephant, tiger and deer. We reach Sevok just at the base of the hills. See the gorgeous view of Tista river as it comes out from the deep gorge of the Himalayas and spreads itself in the vast plains on North Bengal. Now the journey follows the winding roads along the meandering emerald green River Tista. Spend some time on some scenic spots on the way to enjoy the landscape. Gangtok the capital town of Sikkim the earlier Himalayan Kingdom welcomes you with its typical traditional Hospitality.
We assist you to check in at hotel. Get refreshed and have free leisure evening. We recommend a relaxed evening with short walk around The Mall to enjoy the typical hill city life of Gangtok in the twilights. Car service Till drop at Hotel.
Day 02: Gangtok 3 + 7 Points City tour
Visit 3 famous view points at TASHI VIEW POINT, GANESH TOK and HANUMAN TOK from where you can see the panoramic view of entire Gangtok town and valley along with the magnificent Kunchenjungha. Visit to the temple at Honuman Tok to offer prayer.
Today after breakfast we take you to a full day city tour in and around Gangtok. Visit GOVERNMENT INSTITUTE OF COTTAGE INDUSTRY (Closed on Sunday, 2nd Saturday) where beautiful souvenirs like carpets, hand carved tables (choktses), traditional handcrafts, furniture, hand looms carpets and other products are produced & exhibited for sale. VISIT ORCHID HOUSE to see or buy some rare orchids and ornamental plants. We also take you to SIKKIM RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF TIBETOLOGY, which holds world's largest collection of books and rare manuscripts on the subject of Mahayana Buddhism plus many religious works of art and incredibly finely executed silk embroidered Thangkas (paintings). Just beside the institute is the DODURL CHORTEN encircled by 108 prayer wheels built by late Trulsi Rimpoche in 1945-46. This is one of the most important and biggest stupas found in Sikkim.
Now we take you to the most important religious place of Sikkim - THE RUMTEK DHARMA CHAKRA CENTER, 24kms from Gangtok. Built in 1960 by His Holiness the late 16th Gyalwa Karmapa it is a replica of the original Kagyurpa Monastery in Tsurphu, Tibet, the seat of His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche, head of the Karmapa sub sect of Kargyudpa order of Tibetan Buddhism. It now functions as the headquarters of the Dharma Chakra Religious Centre. Walk to the Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies just adjacent to the Monastery Building.
While coming back from Rumtek visit JAWAHARLAL NEHRU BOTANICAL GARDEN to see the collection of well tended tropical and temperate plants and orchids. Stop for a while at the SHANTI VIEW POINT to enjoy the panoramic view of the Gangtok valley. Back to Hotel for lunch. Car Service Duration 5hrs.
Day 03: Gangtok to Lachen - 130kms in 7hrs, Altitude 8900ft (2700M)
Your tour to North Sikkim starts today. Have breakfast and start for Lachen by 9.30AM. to 10.30 AM. Visit TASHI VIEW POINT on the way for some fascinating view of the snow peaks. As the journey continues from Gangtok the route meanders through small villages flanked by fields and valleys until it hits the forest grove of KABI LANGCHUK. Shinghik comes next with its promises of one of the most glorious views of Kunchanjungha. Situated at an altitude of over 4000ft Singhik offers a desired break to the travellers for the magnificent view of Kunchenjungha. We will have our lunch on the way. Visit CHUNGTHANG- the confluence of Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu (river) and VIMNALA FALLS WATER FALLS on your way to Lachen. Reach Lachen in the afternoon. Check in at Hotel and have free evening.
Suggested activity: Meet the local people and stroll around the typical village people of Tibetan origin.
Day 04: Lachen to Chopta valley, Gurudongmar and to Lachung - 175 kms in 7hrs
Today after early breakfast we proceed to Chopta Valley (30kms from Lachen) at 13200ft (3900M) for more excited journey through the alpine plateau to the virgin landscape close to Tibet border. En route we visit Thangu - the last village in North Sikkim mostly inhabited by the nomadic tribes of Tibetan Origin. Proceed further to Gurudongmar Lake (For Indian tourist only)- 33kms further to Chopta Valley. Situated at an Altitude of 17200ft (5100M) the lake is considered as the most sacred lake of Sikkim. Spend some time in the landscape of eternal beauty and rush back to Lachen as the high altitude may cause breathing problem. Lunch at Lachen.
Now we proceed to Lachung via Chunthang (46kms). Lachung - a small hamlet in the remote hill of North Sikkim at an altitude of 8600ft (2650M). Reach Lachung in the afternoon. Check in at hotel and have a free evening roaming around the village.
Day 05: Lachung to Yumthang and Back to Lachung 24kms in 1hr (One way)
Today morning at 7.00AM we take you to Yumthang - the valley of flowers at 12000ft (3600M). The journey from Lachung to Yumthang offers an unforgettable virgin landscape covered with rhododendron bushes and 108 other types of Orchids which bloom in different colours from April to May. The entire area goes under snow during November to March. The hot springs and mesmerizing scene with yaks grazing on flower - carpeted meadows on the backdrop of snow peaks are the added attractions. Spend some spellbound time at the valley and return to Lachung. Lunch at Hotel
After Lunch roam around the little village on the bank of Lachung river - one of the sources of Tista, and enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds you. Also visit to the small Monastery at Lachung.
Day 06: Lachung to Gangtok (124kms in 6hrs)
After Breakfast we proceed to Gangtok via Chunthang. Reach Gangtok in the afternoon. Check in at Hotel and relax.
Suggested evening activities: Visit to M G Marg, the busy market of Gangtok, for shopping and having Sikkimese delicacy at the local restaurant.
Day 07: Gangtok to Tsongo Lake 42kms in 2.5hrs (One way)
After a heavy breakfast we take you to famous Tsongo Lake at 12000ft (3600M). We start at 7.30 AM in the morning from hotel. You have whole day to enjoy snow and Yak ride at the scenic high altitude alpine lake near Indo-Tibet border. The 1 km long and 15m deep lake is considered sacred to the local people. The pristine clear water remains frozen during winter. Have fun with snow and enjoy exciting Yak ride around the lake.
Drive further to the legendary Babamandir from Tsongo Lake on the way to Nathu-la - Jelepla pass at an altitude of over 13,000 feet. It was built in memory of a soldier in the 23rd Punjab Regiment, who drowned in a stream near the spot. Legend says he later appeared in a dream to one of his colleagues where he requested that a temple be built in his memory.
Back to Hotel and have a leisure evening or roam around the market for personal activities. Over night stay at hotel in Gangtok.
Day 08: Departure from Gangtok to Bagdogra, 125kms in 4.00hrs
We check out from Hotel after breakfast. Today your tour with Majestic Vacations concludes with your transfer to Bagdogra Airport. We help you to board your flight back home. Farewell and tour ends.
