Hilley Varsay Trek
Hilley to Varsay trek is beautiful Tourist hut exists amidst the Rhododendron forests. The distance between Hilley and Versay is a more 4km time taken two hours but the change in altitude is over 1000ft, the trek start from Hilley at 9,000ft. It is situated in between Singalila National Park in the south and Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve in the north.
Varsay is known for the Rhododendron sanctuary. The Varsay Rhododendron Sanctuary is popular among the locals and one can see a beautiful landscape when the trees are in full bloom. this small 104-sq-km sanctuary is at an altitude of 10,000 ft and supports a wide variety of bio-diversity. Silver fair, hemlocks, magnolia, different type of orchids and rhododendrons are found as one approach at Varsay. at the sanctuary Leopard Cat, Marbled Cat, Himalayan Yellow Throated Marten, Common Otter, Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Fox, Jackal, Himalayan Black Bear, Red panda, and lots of Birds butterfly.
The valley also provides a 180 degrees view of the surrounding mounts . Varsay provides excellent views of the Kanchenjunga range from Kumbhakarna, Pandim to Siniolchu.
Hilley is the last motor able point before Varsay. Hilley can be reached by road from Sombaria 29 km.
nearest market or shopping place Soreng or Sombaria. Trekkers can stay the night at Versay at a resort there, return or trek on to Soreng or Hee.
